MetaTrader 5 Setup
Download MT5
Your prop firm will provide a specific MT5 download link. Use their version, not the generic one from metatrader.com — their version has the correct server pre-configured.
Login with firm credentials
Open MT5 → File → Login to Trade Account. Enter the login number, password, and select the server your firm specified. Most firms send these via email after purchase.
Verify account type
Check the Navigator panel — your account should show as the correct type (Demo/Contest for evaluation). Verify the balance matches your evaluation plan.
Configure chart templates
Set up your preferred chart style. MT5 defaults are dated — customize colors, add indicators, and save as a template for consistency across multiple symbols.
cTrader Setup
Create cTrader ID
Go to ctrader.com and create an account. Your prop firm will send a link to connect your evaluation to your cTrader ID.
Download or use web
cTrader works in browser (web.ctrader.com) or as a desktop app. The web version is fully featured — no installation needed.
Connect your evaluation
Click the link from your prop firm to connect the evaluation account to your cTrader ID. It should appear in your account list.
Start trading
cTrader's UI is more intuitive than MT5. Charts, watchlists, and the trade panel are all accessible from the main screen.

Choose MT5 if...
