Installation & Connection
Download NinjaTrader 8
Go to ninjatrader.com and download the free version. NinjaTrader is free for simulation/demo trading — you only pay for a license if you want live trading features.
Install and launch
Run the installer. Windows only — Mac users need Parallels or Boot Camp. Launch NinjaTrader after installation.
Add Rithmic connection
Go to Connections → Configure → Add → Select 'Rithmic'. Enter the credentials your prop firm emailed you. Server: usually 'Rithmic Paper Trading' for evaluations.
Connect and verify
Click Connect. Wait for the green checkmark. Your account info (buying power, position limits) should appear in the Account section.
Recommended Chart Setup
- 📊 Primary chart: 5-minute candles with VWAP overlay
- 📊 Secondary chart: 1-minute for precise entries
- 📊 DOM (Depth of Market): Open for order flow analysis
- 📈 Indicators: EMA 9/21, Volume Profile, ATR for stop sizing
- 🎨 Colors: Dark background, high-contrast candles for long sessions
Windows only: NinjaTrader 8 only runs on Windows. Mac users need Parallels Desktop ($50-100/year) or Boot Camp (free but requires partition). Alternatively, use Tradovate which works on any browser.
